Destinations & Vaccinations

Irish honeymooners are choosing more varied and exotic locations than ever before, however due to the excitement of the wedding, some couples may forget about important travel health issues, such as vaccinations.

It is vitally important that couples consider their travel health and consult their GP or travel health clinic at least six weeks prior to departure for advice.
Research has shown that many Irish people have a poor understanding of the vaccinations required for travelling to certain destinations, while almost one-quarter of those who have received vaccinations, do not know which travel related diseases they have been vaccinated against. Many Irish people on holiday abroad put themselves at risk of contracting infectious diseases by, for example, brushing their teeth with local water and consuming salads or raw vegetables.
The information below is given only as a guideline, contact your local Tropical Medical Bureau once you have decided on a honeymoon destination.
