As a graduate of the prestigious Grafton Academy where she specialised in bridal couture, Caroline Rooney enjoyed an international career in fashion design. After spending four years located on the Parade in Kilkenny, Caroline re-located Jeutonic Bridal to 51 Kieran St. in Kilkenny city. “We know how to make a bride feel and look beautiful and the luxury and privacy of our upstairs showroom and fitting area adds to that special feeling.”
What advice would you have for brides–to–be when shopping for that perfect dress?
Be open-minded and try not to have a set idea. If a girl comes in with a picture of a dress and they put it on, I will be honest and explain whether it will or will not work on them. Similarly, after getting an idea of what a bride is looking for, I will select some gowns that I feel would suit her. Your dress should reflect your personality. Go with your heart when you find your gown, you will get the butterfly feeling and you will know it is the one.
What lines do you carry, and which ones are unique to your boutique?
I have exclusivity in Ireland on a number of international collections, such as Marie de Paris, and Donna Salado. I also stock Pronovias of Barcelona, Mikaella from Toronto, Ellis from London, Ella of Australia, and the American label, Jasmine.
Any styles that you feel are particularly appropriate for Spring/Summer weddings?
All that really differentiates between spring/summer and winter wedding dresses are boleros and sleeves. Lace and vintage are huge trends, and I’m finding that far fewer brides are opting for white. Instead they are choosing ivory, champagne, off-whites, and even introducing some colour in the form of rum pink or silver.
