An Opthalmic Optician by profession, Chiara Trench previously owned Specsavers in Carlow, but after seven years in the business, she found that she was not getting the same enjoyment from it. “I got married in 2006 and found my search for my dream dress quite disappointing”, she explains. “A lot of stores were small, grubby and I wasn’t getting the help or advice I needed”. And so, the concept for The Wedding Collection was born. Located in a bright and beautifully designed space on Kennedy avenue in Carlow, since opening in November 2006, Chiara has made shopping for that perfect dress, a relaxing and memorable experience for blushing brides across the South East.
What advice would you have for brides–to–be when shopping for that perfect dress?
Try on the 6 styles of gown available - Mermaid, Princess, A Line, Ball gown, Empire Line and Sheath. Tried on in succession, mixing different colours and straps will give any bride a clearer picture of what works for her.
What lines do you carry, and which ones are unique to your boutique?
All our designers are exclusive to Ireland. We stock Paula Varsalona, Youlin, Domo Adami, Sonia Cholette and Pixton Bridal Couture.
Are there any styles that you feel are particularly appropriate for Spring/Summer weddings?
For a spring feel choose a gown with floral appliqué or French Alencon Lace which has a beautiful romantic feel with floral patterns- available in our Paula Varsalona collection.
For a summer wedding go for lighter fabrics such as silk and chiffon. Empire line gowns and simple sheaths look suitably summery. Our Domo Adami range gowns are stunning and surprisingly light-weight.
What makes your boutique unique in the South East?
We specialise in the bride only for her gown, shoes, veils and jewellery. No bridesmaids, flower girl, or eveningwear, which means that all of our attention is focused on the bride to be. The Wedding Collection exceeds the expectations of all our brides in terms of service, advice, attention-to-detail, décor and choice - making us unique in Ireland and the South East.
